This or that questions for groups and game nights
This or that questions for friends
Two-choice questions make a quick warm-up for a game night. Choose Friends under Audience, give everyone a chance to pick, then compare your reasons. Selecting an option reveals a follow-up question. For longer stories, switch to an open-ended prompt. Explore open-ended conversation topics for friends.
This or that for work and class
Choose the Work or Classroom audience filter for everyday choices that don't require personal disclosure. People can raise a hand or discuss a choice with a partner. Keep participation optional and review prompts for the age of your group. Building a regular check-in routine? Use a question of the day to open the conversation.
This or that questions for couples
Choose Date night under Audience and compare your preferences for food, places, and time together. Neither answer needs to be the correct one. Ask what would make the other choice appealing rather than turning a difference into a debate. Save a few favorites for your next conversation.
Frequently asked questions
What are this or that questions?
They are prompts with two options, such as a city weekend or a mountain cabin. Each person chooses the option they prefer. The reason behind the choice can become a conversation of its own.
How is this or that different from would you rather?
The two overlap. This or that often uses simple preferences between two familiar things, while would you rather often introduces a hypothetical situation or trade-off. Neither needs strict rules.
Do this or that questions need a score?
No. They can be a conversation game with no winner. If a group wants to compare answers, count the choices honestly and keep it friendly; a minority choice is not a wrong answer.
What if someone likes both options?
They can choose what appeals most today, explain what would change their answer, or pass. The point is to understand a preference, not to force a permanent decision.
